Homework

Research has consistently shown homework not to impact student achievement prior to seventh grade. However, there are other reasons to give homework; an opportunity for students to share what they are learning with their family and to learn good study habits.  Learning is a continuous process that involves the home as well as the school. Homework should always consist of assignments that students are able to complete independently or designed to foster a conversion between the students and family. We have found by offering choice in homework, it allows the student more ownership, and has more impact for the student. Doing the homework is optional, with the parent making the decision.
