Immunizations

Maine law requires that children in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade complete the following immunizations before attending school:

DPT or DTaP:  5 doses (4 if the fourth is given after the fourth birthday)
Polio (IPV):  4 doses (3 if the third is given after the fourth birthday)
MMR:  2 doses
Varicella (Chicken Pox): 1 dose

Due to the passage of LD 798, our state no longer allows for philosophical and religious exemptions. In order for children to attend school, they must be fully vaccinated or have a medical exemption.

The purpose of this change is to protect all children from preventable communicable diseases. Exposure to communicable diseases can be life-threatening to anyone with a weakened immune system. This includes children who have a history of autoimmune disease, organ transplant or are fighting cancer. Questions concerning these requirements may be directed to the school nurse.  If your child receives immunization updates during the school year, please bring a copy of the updates to the school nurse for inclusion in your child’s health record.

Our goal is to make our school environment safe and healthy for all of our students.
