Standardized Testing
A formal testing program allows the schools to look at student performance trends over time. It is important to remember that testing of any kind is only one piece of assessment. Scores are indicators of performance but they are only one method teachers use to assess your child. Your child’s teachers can provide you with complete information about your child’s performance and growth.
Students in grades 3-5 participate in the state assessment as required by law. Students in grades 3-5 participate in the Maine Through the Year NWEA (North West Educational Assessment). Students in all grades participate in a variety of reading, writing and math assessments in the fall, winter and spring.
