Ocean Avenue School has an active volunteer program coordinated by the Community Coordinator provided by the Portland Partnership Program. This valuable position provides assistance to teachers and brings parents, grandparents and community members into our schools. Ocean Avenue Elementary School provides many opportunities for parents to become involved with their child's education. Research has proven that parental involvement in schools is key to a child's academic success. Parents and grandparents can greatly enrich the lives of students by serving as tutors, classroom helpers and library helpers. Volunteering at Ocean Avenue can fit your schedule, can be in an area of interest to you, and can be mutually beneficial for both you and your child. We encourage your participation in your child’s education.
When volunteering, you are expected to sign in and out in the Main Office. Please wear your nametag while you are in school. The online volunteer application that has information regarding the background check conducted, can be found at the PPS website under Community Engagement /Volunteer in our school and on the parent portal or you can click HERE. Feel free to contact Sylvie Montello, Family Engagement Coordinator at OAES at email@example.com if you have any questions. In all cases of volunteering, including chaperoning a field trip, parents must complete the volunteer application packet at least 2 weeks in advance.
