EXHIBITION DAY IS

THIS THURSDAY, APRIL 11 from 9:30 to 11:30

at Ocean Ave School, in the fifth-grade wing .


A student overview of the Exhibition experience will take place at 9am in the Cafeteria, followed by visits to the team presentations.


Ocean Avenue Elementary School fifth graders will present their culminating inquiry project known as the Exhibition. Teams conducted inquiries around the transdisciplinary theme Sharing the Planet, with the overarching central idea as:

Human activities affect sustainability.

Teams will share with parents and friends their understandings and action plans to address the issue they explored.


Each team explored an issue connected to the overarching central idea.

Here are the exciting team Central Ideas:

Arctic marine life is changing due to overfishing and climate change.

Global warming can be slowed down by using solar power.

Deforestation in the Amazon rainforest endangers local species.

Using hybrid and electric cars makes a healthier environment.

Invasive aquatic species endanger native species and their habitats.

Sustainable maple syrup industry practices protect local ecosystems.

Ocean pollution kills living things and affects the ocean’s health.

Winter tourism activities are affected by climate changes and forest management.

Endangered bee populations can affect our food sources and the farming industry.

Green living practices sustain a healthier ecosystem.

Urban sprawl can be balanced by not building in animal habitats.

Changes in climate can affect bird migration.

Sustainable apple farms are good for business and the environment.

Using solar power reduces greenhouse gases which will help global warming.

Lobster fisheries are being affected by changes in the Gulf of Maine.
